In 1924, CITIZEN created its first-ever product, a pocket watch. It was given the name CITIZEN to express the idea of a watch that as many people as possible would use and cherish for a long time. Inspired by that original philosophy, we have never stopped seeking out ways to improve things in the 100 years since. Now we have reached the milestone year of 2024. And to mark the 100th anniversary of the first CITIZEN watch comes this limited edition from The CITIZEN.

A dial that embodies our planet’s beauty
A limited edition marking the 100th anniversary of the first CITIZEN brand watch must be exceptional in appearance. The dial is designed to express the yearning for something that remains unchanged over a 100-year span, hence the selection of an iceberg motif—a beautiful natural phenomenon that we all aspire to preserve for future generations. Electroforming, a sophisticated metal-deposition technique, is used to delineate the iceberg on the silver dial. The 18-carat white gold on the encircling bezel further accentuates the iceberg theme to give this limited edition unique character and presence. Our commitment to a refined aesthetic is visible in every single detail, the bar indexes of the small seconds subdial being just one example.

Unique case design and strap make for a powerful personality
For the strap, we wanted to find the type of leather that would best complement the design of the case. Ultimately, that search led us to Himeji Kurozan leather, the “black diamond of leather.” Noted for its rich glitter and sense of volume, Himeji Kurozan leather is made by laboriously hand-painting the grain of tanned ox-hide with coat after coat of Japanese urushi lacquer. The resulting leather looks as if it has been sprinkled with countless specks of diamond dust.

The movement: Your secret source of joy
With average daily accuracy of -3 to +5 seconds per day, the Caliber 0200 combines accuracy in excess of the chronometer standard with an irresistible aesthetic allure created by the fine finishes applied to every single component. The 22-carat gold rotor stamped with the eagle mark is visible through the see-through case back. Of course, the pleasure of looking at it is a privilege reserved exclusively for the watch’s owner.

The CITIZEN watches are made at CITIZEN's special watch workshop nestled deep in the Nagano countryside. They are hand-assembled down to the last component by our highly experienced master watchmaking Meisters.
